New Women’s Empowerment Tools July 7, 2009

by Wild Angel

Whenever you’ve ever felt undervalued in the workplace as a woman, you shouldn’t. Women are becoming more and more prominent in work environments and even have special abilities that will help them succeed even in a male-dominated vocation. Recognizing the natural self empowering techniques for women, that women already possess, is extremely potent.

Women posses inborn talents, but can feel as though their abilities are not relevant to a place of business. This is incorrect. It is valid that women, the same as men, still need to become masters of functional and precise business skills in order to achieve success, but in order to reach the top levels of success, they have distinctive talents that organizations  respect. By simply harnessing these abilities, women can empower themselves to get anything and everything they want.

We can start with interaction, a ability that is crucialskillsessential to success. Women are inherent communicators. I’m sure that you’ve noticed  how a mother seems to “just know”  how important it is to speak and interrelate with her children, using fitting language and language-construction that a child can  make sense of. This same skill, reworked subtly, functions splendidly  in a work environment. For example, a woman that is organizing other employees  has tobe able to communicate with every employee one on one in a style that each person can understand.

Helen Fisher,  writer of The First Sex: The Natural Talents of Women and How They Are Changing the World, speaks to this as a elegance with speech. Fisher describes the growing need for the capacity to converse with written and spoken language. To quote her, “At talking, women have the edge.” Fisher details the way in which females, even when very young “excel at… verbal fluency – rapidly finding appropriate words, phrases or sentences.” Fisher writes “Women are, on average, more articulate at saying what they say.” Women, accepting this information and trusting their inborn language talent in communication will discover their confidence building.

As for teaching or coaching, women  have an advantage as well. The fostering characteristics that are easier for women make it possible for women to help children discover and grow. The proper mix of support, restraint, freedom and limits will lead to a child whose self-confidence and talents are very mature and continue to exceed that of other children. When this sort of condition is applied to the business world, a woman will do the same for employees.

Once more, Helen Fisher’s studies as presented in The First Sex claim, “Women are, on average, more interested in cooperation, harmony, and connections – a network of support.” She continues, “Women characteristically believe everyone can succeed in business; they take a win-win attitude in the office world.”

Most women are also able multi-tasking or multi-focusing. organizing human resources, reports, deadlines and all the necessary resources becomes crucial to the achievement of the groups’ results.

Helen Fisher makes reference to people’s growth, even back to times past, a female needed to raise helpless and dependent children under extremely unsafe conditions showing the need for the ability to do multiple things even back then. Her description is great: “In order to rear helpless infants, ancestral mothers needed to do a lot of things at the same time. Watch for snakes. Listen for thunder. Taste for poison. Rock the sleepy. Distract the cranky. Instruct the curious. Soothe the fearful. Inspire the tardy. Feed the hungry. Mothers had to do countless daily chores while they stoked the fire, cooked the food and talked to friends.”

Of course, not every woman has the ability to mother and not every woman is the identical, but every woman has the skill to distinguish the skills they possess and use them for individual and professional empowerment. Women can be just as skilled at professional management as men. If figuring out what makes you a successful woman is interesting to you,  go aheah and create a list of all your individual characteristics – those inherent abilities and empower yourself to rise to new levels of success.
